The RCAA Consulting Framework in a nutshell
In my experience, there are four facets that work together for successful consulting:
The Relationships you develop with your clients
The Conversations you have with them
The Agreements you reach with them
And the Actions you take with them
Each facet has 3 key aspects to pay attention to:
Relationships
Positioning - ways in which L&D professionals can position themselves in relation to (internal) clients
Trust - ways in which they can develop the level of trust with the clients
Notes - ways in which they can easily have relevant information at hand, from previous interactions with the clients
โผ
Conversations
Listening - ways of listening and how suited they are for the conversations with the clients
Visualisation - ways through which visualization supports the conversations
Questions - ways through which various kinds of questions shape the conversations
โผ
Agreements
Synthesis - ways through which L&D professionals can synthesize the information needed for a decision
Proposal - ways through which they can create impactful proposal to clients
Negotiation - ways through which they can negotiate with clients the approach to follow and the next steps
โผ
Actions
Design - ways in which they can design and integrate the proper actions for the desired outcomes
Coordination - ways through which they can coordinate an extended team for the necessary actions
Communication - ways through which they can communicate various types of information related to the steps they are doing
The RCAA framework can help L&D professionals that offer L&D consulting:
As a self-assessment tool: Which of the 4x3 consulting aspects are you happy with today? Which aspects are worth paying more attention to going forward?
As a preparation tool or checklist: For key stakeholders or for important initiatives you are leading - how do the 4x3 consulting aspects look like for these specific situations?
As a toolkit: For becoming more effective and efficient at the 4x3 consulting aspects - there are tools and practices you can use. Will share these in future Linked Learning editions. Stay tuned!
Hope this quick overview sparked your curiosity about the framework, especially if becoming better at L&D consulting is on your own learning roadmap.
See you at the sharing session ๐
